Yard of the Month

Yard of the Month is now on hiatus until April.

We need several neighbors to help us with our selection each month of our two YOM winners. If you can be available on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon for about an hour once a month from April through December, we need you! Please contact Robert Grinsfelder at rmgrins@aol.com

Membership Happy Hour Monday, January 23, 5:30-7:30pm

Drop by Amigo’s to renew your membership in the NCPNA or join for the first time! The NCPNA will provide food and members will win some great prizes! Meet your neighbors, our block captains and the NCPNA board and learn about our plans for 2023. We want your input to help us continue to grow our events. We look forward to seeing you next Monday at Amigo’s and bring a neighbor! Let us know you will attend by sending a note to rmgrins@aol.com

Time to Renew Your Membership + Flags

North College Park Neighborhood Association is supported by voluntary contributions from residents. The stated goal of the association are to promote safety, integrity, beauty, quality life, a sense of community and the value of our homes.

We do these things by coming together with activities like Spring celebration, Fourth of July Parade, Flag program and National Night Out. We also promote and encourage crime prevention through crime patrol and education.

You may pay your membership by credit card, Zelle™ or personal check. Details on the membership page: ncpna.org/join. If you pay by Zelle™, be sure and include your name and street address in the message block so we can match you payment with you!

As part of membership you can opt for the Rotary Flag program and membership for $65.

Membership alone is $25.

If you have questions about membership, please contact anyone on our membership committee.

It’s Time Texas Community Challenge

If wellness is on your mind, the city of Richardson is participating in a FREE Community challenge called “It’s Time Texas”. You download the app, log your healthy habits, and get points! The challenge runs from 1/9-3/5 and it’s a great way to prioritize your health early this year. You can link your points to aid Richardson High School (the only Richardson ISD school currently registered). Check out itstimetexas.org/ for more information or questions.

Access+Inclusion 23

The City of Richardson and the Eisemann Center are hosting a community event called Access+Inclusion 23: A Road Toward Mental Wellness the week of February 6-11, 2023. Activities led by Dr. Spencer are being held at the Eisemann Center throughout the week as well as the Richardson Public Library, Methodist Richardson Medical Center, UT Dallas, Richardson Independent School District, The Counseling Place, Center for Brain Health, and with the Richardson Police and Fire Departments. Access+Inclusion 23 is the continuation of a conversation started in 2021 with the event called Inclusion is Magical which brought attention to the capabilities and opportunities of individuals on the autism spectrum. Crime Watch Report

We sound like a broken record, but vehicle break-ins continue to dominate the reports we hear around town. North College Park continues to enjoy a lower crime rate than our immediate neighbors. We are not sure why, but we believe awareness plays a role as well as our active crime watch patrol program.

As always when at home lock your car, take your keeps and keep valuables out of sight. If you observe suspicious activities, notify 911.

If you are interested in joining the crime patrol group or want to learn more, contact our crime patrol coordinator: Doug Freeman at d1004free@aol.com.

Flag Patrol

To keep our costs down we have a volunteer flag patrol who help deploy and pick up the flags. We now have over 100 flags flying in North College Park! If you are willing to help with this activity, please contact Janice Gromadin at elway100@gmail.com.

Support Jess Harben

The NCPNA encourages members to support Jess Harben Elementary School! Here's How:
*Join the PTA by going to http://joinpta.org and then select the RISD and Jess Harben Elementary school.

If you own, run or work at a local business and want to partner with Jess Harben and learn about sponsorship opportunities contact Justin Schofield at schofield.justind@gmail.com

Help Plan Or Staff Our Special Events

We need more neighbors involved in helping to plan and work at our special events. These include the Spring Celebration, our Backyard Tour event, the 4th of July parade/caravan and party, our National Night Out and other new events in the works! Please contact Robert Grinsfelder at rmgrins@aol.com for more information!

This newsletter is the collaboration of several of your neighbors. It would not be possible without their support, thank you!

If you did not receive this newsletter in your email, you can easily sign up to receive your very own copy. We send out a newsletter every month with an occasional special email. We promise to not share your email address and we won't drown you in emails. Go to http://ncpna.org/enews and fill out the form. Be sure and look for the confirmation email and confirm the subscription.

About North College Park Neighborhood Association

NCPNA is a neighborhood association, and unlike a homeowner's association, we do not have any authority over anyone's property. We sponsor activities and projects to help make our neighborhood a more pleasant and safe place to live. Volunteers are always needed, and we look forward to hearing about new ways to achieve our collective goals.

Contact Robert Grinsfelder at rmgrins@aol.com if you can help with any of these activities.
