Spring Celebration a Big Success

The weather was perfect and we had a great turnout for this event. Lots of candy filled eggs, games, food and fun. Thanks to everyone who came out and participated and thanks to the volunteers who worked hard to pull it all together. It was great working with the College Park and Town North Park team. Here are a few pictures. You can find more pictures on the NCPNA Facebook page.

Yard Of The Month To Resume In May

We had hoped to get the Yard of the Month going this month, but the YOM team felt it would be better to wait until May.

Thanks to the selection committee for their work. If you are interested in helping, please send an email to Robert Grinsfelder at rmgrins@aol.com

Welcome Baskets

The Welcome Basket Committee is made up of Linda Brown 214-693-1612, Ioana Bates 469-396-5480 and Vicki Bean 214-949-7805 v.bean46@yahoo.com. We put baskets with home items and food together for our new neighbors and invite them to join the North College Neighborhood Association. Please contact us if you know of a new neighbor on your block! The baskets are sponsored by the NCPNA.

Book Club

Our 2nd book club of the year was a real celebration of precious days. “These Precious Days” by Ann Patchett was a book everyone really enjoyed. The short stories were compelling, which inspired great conversations. Everyone brought a delightful array of snacks and we got to sit and discuss the book and life. Our next book is Jenny Jackson’s “Pineapple Street” on Saturday April 22nd. Hannah Spates will host again and we’ll meet from 1-3pm. Our next 4 books are picked we have a wonderful newsletter just for our book club! Check out the NCPNA Facebook page or email Hannah Spates at spateshannah@gmail.com to join the group. Happy reading!

March Madness

The winner of the 2023 NCPNA March Madness Bracket Challenge was Heidi Shook! It was a WILD tournament that didn’t require anyone to have the final four correct to win. Join us next year for more fun and madness!

Trash Bash, Report

We had seven hard souls who turned out to pick up trash around the neighborhood. Thanks for their efforts.

We also took a truckload of electronics to be recycled to the Richardson Square drop off point.

Thanks to Phyllis Slaughter for organizing this event.

Flag Patrol

To keep our costs down we have a volunteer flag patrol who help deploy and retrieve the flags. We now have over 100 flags flying in North College Park! If you are willing to help with this activity, please contact Janice Gromadin at elway100@gmail.com.

House Number Project

The house number project is still alive and well. Volunteers will make a sign at no charge for your back fence to comply with city regulations. These numbers make it easier for emergency services to find your residence.

Crime Watch Report

We had our monthly meeting and the reports continue to be good. It is important not to become complacent. Remember many crimes are simple opportunities, an unlocked car, valuables in plain sight. The usual litany, lock your car and take your keys. We hear reports of people leaving their cars for just a moment and becoming victims. Think like a criminal, are you making it easy or difficult for them. Make it difficult and they will go elsewhere.

If you are interested in joining the crime patrol group or want to learn more, contact our crime patrol coordinator: Doug Freeman at d1004free@aol.com.

About North College Park Neighborhood Association

NCPNA is a neighborhood association, and unlike a homeowner's association, we do not have any authority over anyone's property. We sponsor activities and projects to help make our neighborhood a more pleasant and safe place to live. Volunteers are always needed, and we look forward to hearing about new ways to achieve our collective goals.

Contact Robert Grinsfelder at rmgrins@aol.com if you can help with any of these activities.
