Report: Patriotic Parade & Poolside Party

Thank you to everyone for making our July Patriotic Parade and Pool Party a grand success! 60 neighbors enjoyed great weather, a fun mini-parade, plenty of room to splash/float, and more tacos than we could ever need. We enjoyed the time with everyone and meeting some of you for the first time! We’re so grateful to the NCPNA board for reserving the pool and bringing the breakfast tacos. We’re extra thankful to Tricky Fish at CityLine for donating two $25 gift cards towards our incredible diaper/deodorant drive won by The Bromberg Family and The Manigold Family.

We donated 139 pounds of diapers, deodorant, and a few other items to the Network of Community Ministries!!

Patriotic Parade & Poolside Party – Saturday July 6th 9:30am-12pm

We’re bringing back our neighborhood parade with 40 years of NCPNA history and adding some poolside fun!

– Our mini-parade will begin at 9:30am at the corner of Windsong and Briarcest and ends at Glenville Pool (0.4 mile route). Wear and decorate with your best red, white, and blue! Pets are welcome at the parade but not at the pool. Thank you to our Crime Watch Patrol for marshaling the parade.

– NCPNA has reserved the pool privately for our group from 10am-12pm and will provide breakfast tacos, watermelon, and waters/juices for active NCPNA members. Non-member guests are welcome to join the party for $10 per person or $20 per family. The pool will close for cleaning from 12pm-1pm before opening to the public, so we will need to leave the pool at noon.

– Join us in a diapers and deodorant drive for The Network of Community Ministries. These are two of their most needed items and a great way to give back during this no-cost-to-you event. Earn a raffle ticket for each donation to enter to win a $50 gift certificate to a one of our well-known local neighborhood restaurants (still being determined).

Stay tuned on our Facebook and Instagram accounts for additional details! Can’t wait to celebrate together!

Book Club, April 2024

Our meeting in April was to discuss The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store by James McBride. Connie graciously hosted everyone in her home to discuss! Including the below from Julie since I wasn’t able to attend this month:

We had a great discussion and Connie and Pat both mentioned how the author’s previous book, The Color of Water, about his mother, showed up in the character of Crona. Connie also had a handout listing of all the characters because we found it hard to keep up with them all.

Thanks for everyone who attended and thanks to Connie for hosting!

We will be meeting here again at the end of the month to discuss Nothing to See Here by Kevin Wilson. Hope everyone can join us for that meeting!
