With all this rain the mosquitos are out in force!  It’s a battle to keep them under control. All of us need to be aware of the 4 D’s of protection;

• DRAIN standing water around the home
• Use insect repellent containing DEET
• Avoid being outdoors at DUSK and DAWN
• DRESS to protect yourself with long sleeves and pants

There have been a few reported incidents in the Richardson/Garland area (east side of Richardson) regarding scams to senior citizens. The “water check” scam consists of a male knocking on your door and explain to you that the city is doing some water line repairs. The male proceeds to ask you if he can come into your house, once inside he will ask you to open one of the faucets for “pressure check.” He makes you believe he’s checking one of the other faucets, but in reality he’s probably stealing your home valuables.

Please remember, a city worker will not ask you to come into your house AND a city worker MUST be in uniform while performing his job. If you have an emergency, please call 911.

Thanks to everyone who came out for our 4th of July Parade and Picnic.  The weather was perfect and everyone had a great time.  A special thanks to those who helped out and to the Richardson Police Department who provided an escort.

We had a nice time at our annual Crime Watch Patrol party where Assistant Chief Coby Pewitt gave a talk and presented the annual patrol awards to Paula Hochfelder and the Gilberts for the Lone Ranger and Dynamic Duo award. The Gilberts put in 188 hours on patrol combined and Paula put in 73 hours.  Doug Freeman accepted the award for Jerry and Lucy Gilbert. Continue reading →
