Meet La Casita Bakeshop: A Local Favorite with Heart
What started in 2017 as a small baking operation in the back kitchen of an Oak Cliff brewpub has grown into one of the DFW area’s most beloved bakeries. Founded by pastry chef Maricsa Trejo and her husband, Alex Henderson, La Casita Bakeshop was created to share their love of craft baking, creativity, and heritage with the community. The name, inspired by Maricsa’s mother’s habit of adding “-ita” to things she found cute, honors Maricsa’s Latina roots and brings a personal touch to everything they create.
La Casita’s journey has taken it from a tiny kitchen to a 6,000-square-foot bakery in Richardson, a team of more than 85 people, and pastries served at over 175 restaurants and coffee shops across the metroplex. With additional coffee shop locations in Rowlett and inside Half Price Books on Northwest Highway, La Casita continues to grow while staying true to its roots.
Recognized nationally for its exceptional baking, the business remains grounded in what matters most: creativity, community, and the joy of sharing something delicious. Whether you’re stopping in for a croissant, a cup of coffee, or a special treat, La Casita is a wonderful example of a local business bringing people together, one pastry at a time.
Their Halloween treats are “to die for”, so make sure to stop by their storefront before the month ends for spooky good eats!
