Join the neighborhood for our private pool reservation, breakfast tacos, and watermelon care of North College Park Neighborhood Association. We want to kick summer off with a splash!

When: Saturday, June 6th from 10am-12pm
Where: Glenville Pool, 500 S. Glenville Dr, Richardson, TX 75081
Why: Kickoff Summer with a Splash!
Food/Beverage: Breakfast tacos, Watermelon, Kid juices, and water
What to bring: Swimsuits, grip shoes for the splash pad area for littles, towels, and a folding/camping chair if you want as seating is limited.

Weather notice: We’re aware of and watching the weather. The City makes the official cancellation if there is lightning within 10 miles, but the pool will stay open if it’s just rain. If we receive notice of cancellation, we will email a notice and update Facebook. No news posted means the party is on!

Keeping Our Parks Safe and Our Neighborhoods Scooter-Smart
Our parks are among the community’s most valuable shared spaces, providing opportunities for recreation, exercise, and family activities. To ensure that everyone can enjoy these amenities safely, residents are encouraged to be aware of park regulations and neighborhood transportation laws.

Help Keep Our Parks Safe and Enjoyable
City parks are intended for the safe enjoyment of all residents and visitors. To maintain a welcoming environment, the operation of motorized vehicles, including golf-carts, off-road motorcycles (dirt bikes), e-motorcycles, and mini bikes, is prohibited in all city parks, including the sidewalks, trails, and jogging paths, as outlined by city ordinance.
Motor-assisted scooters are permitted only on sidewalks and designated bicycle paths and must be operated in accordance with all applicable regulations.
Residents are also reminded that the following activities are prohibited in city parks:

• Damaging, vandalizing, or defacing park property
• Engaging in reckless or dangerous behavior that creates a public nuisance
• Disrupting park visitors, scheduled events, or park facilities

Violations of park ordinances may result in fines, removal from the park, and the confiscation of property used in violation of park rules.
If you witness illegal vehicle operation, property damage, dangerous activity, or any other park ordinance violation, please call 911 immediately. Prompt reporting allows law enforcement officers to respond while the incident is occurring and helps preserve the safety of park visitors.
Working together, we can keep our parks clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.

Understanding Motor-Assisted Scooter and Pocket Bike Regulations
As motor-assisted scooters and other small motorized vehicles become increasingly popular, it is important for riders and parents to understand the laws governing their operation in Texas and within the City of Richardson.

Pocket Bikes and Mini Motorbikes
Motorized pocket bikes and mini motorbikes are not permitted on:

• Public streets
• Sidewalks

These vehicles are intended for use only on private property with the permission of the property owner. Operating them in public areas can create significant safety hazards for both riders and pedestrians.

What Is a Motor-Assisted Scooter? It’s Not an E-Bike
A motor-assisted scooter is generally defined as a stand-up or sit-down scooter equipped with at least two wheels, brakes, a small gas or electric motor not exceeding 40cc, and the capability of being propelled by human power.
Under Texas law and local regulations, motor-assisted scooters may be operated:

• On roads with posted speed limits of 35 mph or less
• On sidewalks
• On designated bicycle paths
• Across intersections of roads with speed limits greater than 35 mph

Richardson Scooter Requirements
The City of Richardson requires:

• Operators to be at least 12 years of age to ride a motor-assisted scooter on a public street
• Riders without a driver’s license to obtain a City of Richardson Scooter Permit
• All operators wear a helmet while riding

In addition, scooter riders must obey the same traffic laws and rules of the road that apply to bicyclists.
Remember: Motor-assisted scooters cannot legally be operated on roads with posted speed limits exceeding 35 mph, except when crossing at an intersection.
By understanding and following these regulations, residents can help improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists, motorists, and fellow riders throughout our community.
