National Night Out
If you did not attend National Night Out on October 6th at Jess Harben Elementary which was produced by volunteers from North College Park, College Park, Town North and Glenville Park Neighborhood Associations, then you missed a great night of fun and fun.
Berkner High School music department. As folks entered, the Berkner Drum line ushered in the festivities with several rousing numbers. While our guests ate and visited with various City of Richardson officials such as our council persons, chief of police and various police and fire personnel.
As an added surprise, Miss Texas, who was crowned this year at the Eisemann center in Richardson greeted the folks and posed for multiple pictures. The children had a great time with McGruff the crime prevention dog and participated in various games.
Our theme this year was “Back The Blue…Thank A Cop.” Participants provided over 50 thank-you notes written by participant of NNO and the children from Jess Harben provided hundreds of handmade pictures depicting how our police department helps our kids. These were all taken to police headquarters and posted on the bulletin boards.
Our National Night Out Party received honorable mention as being one of the top four parties in town.
If you would like to get involved in this program you may do so by either becoming a crime watch patrol person by contacting Doug Freeman at firstname.lastname@example.org or you can becoming part of next year’s planning. That’s right we already have a committee for 2016. Our first meeting is on August 2nd , 2016 for the next National Night Out on October 4th 2016.
