National Night Out A Great Success

Almost 200 people enjoyed the National Night Out held at Glenville Park on October 4th. With improved lighting, neighbors dined on food from the King Kong Tacos and Wings food truck and were entertained by the Berkner Drum Line. There were visits by the police and fire fighters along with Chase from Paw Patrol. The evening concluded with a raffle for many great prizes and thanks to Vicki Bean for securing them from area businesses! It was fun to visit with neighbors on a comfortable fall evening and to celebrate our safe neighborhood. Thanks to all who helped and attended!

NCPNA Annual Meeting Recap

Over 50 people enjoyed a taco buffet hosted by the NCPNA at Amigo’s Restaurant on Tuesday, September 27th. President Janice Gromadiin shared an update on our activities and announced the Board members. Doug Freeman introduced our special guest speaker Don Magner, Richardson City Manager. Mr. Magner discussed the fire at city hall and how services are being provided from other locations, the status of the old Sears building, plans for the CORE district, among other topics along with the general outlook for the city which is positive. He is very accessible and can be reached at Don.Magner@cor.gov.

Crime Watch Report

The weather is cooling off, but crime does not. We continue to enjoy a low crime rate in North College Park. However we do have people checking doors on cars for valuables. Lock your doors and take your keys. Wallets, purses, and computers are prime targets for thieves and they will break a window if they see something tempting.

If you are interested in joining the crime patrol group or want to learn more, contact our crime patrol coordinator: Doug Freeman at d1004free@aol.com.

Flag Patrol

To keep our costs down we have a volunteer flag patrol who help deploy and pick up the flags. We now have over 100 flags flying in North College Park! If you are willing to help with this activity, please contact Janice Gromadin at elway100@gmail.com.

Membership + Flags

Due to increasing costs, the Rotary has increased the price of flags by $10. We are still offering a reduced membership with the flag option. Membership only is still $25, and the addition of the flag option is now a total of $65 dollars. With this option you are guaranteed five flag holidays from the time you sign up.

Support Jess Harben

The NCPNA encourages members to support Jess Harben Elementary School! Here’s How:
*Join the PTA by going to joinpta.org and then select the RISD and Jess Harben Elementary school.

*Attend the next general meeting at the school on October 20th and hear from the Liberty Junior High principal and learn about volunteer opportunities.

*If you own, run or work at a local business and want to partner with Jess Harben and learn about sponsorship opportunities contact Justin Schofield at schofield.justind@gmail.com

About North College Park Neighborhood Association

NCPNA is a neighborhood association, and unlike a homeowner’s association, we do not have any authority over anyone’s property. We sponsor activities and projects to help make our neighborhood a more pleasant and safe place to live. Volunteers are always needed, and we look forward to hearing about new ways to achieve our collective goals.

Contact Robert Grinsfelder at rmgrins@aol.com if you can help with any of these activities.
