NCPNA Annual Meeting – September 27

Mark your calendars now to attend our NCPNA Annual Meeting, Tuesday, September 27 at Amigo’s Restaurant.

Our special guest speaker will be new Richardson City Manager Don Magner. Food will be provided beginning at 6:30 pm, followed by a brief meeting and our guest speaker. Spread the word!

Your Neighborhood Association Needs You!

We are excited to be getting back to more in-person events and look forward to growing our participation! There are several opportunities for involvement:

Flag Patrol

To keep our costs down we have a volunteer flag patrol who help deploy and pick up the flags. We now have over 100 flags flying in North College Park! If you are willing to help with this activity, please contact Janice Gromadin at elway100@gmail.com.

Membership + Flags

Due to increasing costs, the Rotary has increased the price of flags by $10. We are still offering a reduced membership with the flag option. Membership only is still $25, and the addition of the flag option is now a total of $65. With this option you are guaranteed five flag holidays from the time you sign up.

If you are not a member and would like to support our association, please become a member by signing up here: NCPNA.com/join

Yard Of The Month Selection

– We need several neighbors to help us with our selection each month of our two YOM winners. We need several people to be available on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon for about an hour once a month from April through December. Please contact Robert Grinsfelder at rmgrins@aol.com

Help Plan Or Staff Our Special Events

We need more neighbors involved in helping to plan and work at our special events. These include the Spring Celebration, our Backyard Tour event, the 4th of July parade/caravan and party, our National Night Out and other new events in the works! Please contact Robert Grinsfelder at rmgrins@aol.com for more information!

Welcome Baskets

The Welcome Basket Committee is made up of Linda Brown 214-693-1612, Ioana Bates 469-396-5480 and Vicki Bean 214-949-7805 V.Bean@att.net. We put baskets with home items and food together for our new neighbors and invite them to join the North College Neighborhood Association. Please contact us if you know of a new neighbor on your block! The baskets are sponsored by the NCPNA.

North College Park Neighborhood Facebook Group

NCPNA has an active private Facebook group. One of the administrators will quickly approve your admission to the group. Click here to go to the group page: facebook.com/groups/ncpna

Crime Watch Report

Not much new to report, however theft of catalytic converters continues to be a problem. Newer high clearance vehicles are a common target.

We can continue to have low crime, but we need to stay vigilant. Be aware of your surroundings and take note of things which seem out of place or different. Check on neighbors you have not heard from recently. If you see something which does not seem right contact the police so they can check it out.

If you are interested in joining the crime patrol group or want to learn more, contact our crime patrol coordinator: Doug Freeman at d1004free@aol.com.

National Night Out

Planning is underway for NCPNA’s participation in National Night Out which will be held the evening of October 4, 2022 in Glenville Park. More details coming soon. We have booked a food truck, King Kong Tacos and Wings. Mark your calendar and plan to attend, expect a fun evening and meet your neighbors. More information.

Book Club Update

If you are interested in getting involved with book club, please email April Anderson at adawn0105@gmail.com to get in on the fun!

Small Business Spotlight

If you have a small business you want to highlight, please email the newsletter editor John Slaughter at john.e.slaughter@gmail.com for consideration. We want to support you!

Booster Signs

If you want a “booster” sign, please let Vicki Bean V.Bean@att.net know and we will get you a sign.

Newsletter

This newsletter is the collaboration of several of your neighbors. It would not be possible without their support, thank you!

If you did not receive this newsletter in your email, you can easily sign up to receive your very own copy. We send out a newsletter every month with an occasional special email. We promise to not share your email address and we won’t drown you in emails. Go to http://ncpna.org/enews and fill out the form. Be sure and look for the confirmation email and confirm the subscription.

About North College Park Neighborhood Association

NCPNA is a neighborhood association, and unlike a homeowner’s association, we do not have any authority over anyone’s property. We sponsor activities and projects to help make our neighborhood a more pleasant and safe place to live. Volunteers are always needed, and we look forward to hearing about new ways to achieve our collective goals.

Contact Robert Grinsfelder at rmgrins@aol.com if you can help with any of these activities.
