The 4th of July Parade A big Success

The 4th of July Parade and Party was enjoyed by about 60 people as they ate delicious food from TJ’s Dawg House Food Truck and participated in games and fellowship. Thanks to our police department for the parade escort and to City Council member Joe Corcoran for stopping by! The water balloon toss was a big hit providing some relief on the hot day! Congratulations to the parade, costume and game winners!

Thanks to all of the volunteers who helped put this event together. Phyllis Slaughter took pictures of the event: ncpna.org/4th_of_July_2022/. If you want a high-resolution copy of one of the pictures, send Phyllis an email and she will send you the photo. phyllis.slaughter@gmail.com.

If you have thoughts about what worked well and not so well this year please share them so we can do better next year. If you were unable to make the event, please let us know why you were not able to attend. Send your observations to: Robert Grinsfelder at rmgrins@aol.com

First Place: Mark and Mary McLaughlin, 1108 Sundial Dr. They received a $25 Bruce Miller’s Nursery gift certificate.

Act of Kindness

Two of our neighborhood children, (Nathan and Blake) saw a lost dog on Saturday, June 11, 2023 and was going house to house find the owner. We later found out the dog’s name was Duke had escaped from his yard on Saturday.

When they stopped by my house I posted it on NCPNA Facebook page for them. But shortly after that they heard the owner calling him and brought her to my house where they were reunited. It was such and kind and noble thing to do and the owner was very appreciative. We need more neighbors and people like Nathan and Blake.

Thank you Nathan and Blake for your act of kindness!

Your Neighborhood Association Needs You!

We are excited to be getting back to more in-person events and look forward to growing our participation! There are several opportunities for involvement:

Flag Patrol

A big shout-out and thank you to our NCPNA volunteers who helped deploy and pick up the flags for our last 4th of July flag holiday. We now have over 100 flags flying in North College Park! Your association and flag membership is only $55 and you will be guaranteed five flag holidays from the time you sign up. Sign up at NCPNA.com/join.

Join The Flag Patrol – We can generate new income for our association by posting flags throughout the neighborhood, instead of other groups doing it. We would continue to partner with the Rotary Club which would provide the flags to us. This program is growing and we want to ensure our continued success! Please contact Janice Gromadin at elway100@gmail.com.

About North College Park Neighborhood Association

NCPNA is a neighborhood association, and unlike a homeowner’s association, we do not have any authority over anyone’s property. We sponsor activities and projects to help make our neighborhood a more pleasant and safe place to live. Volunteers are always needed, and we look forward to hearing about new ways to achieve our collective goals.

Contact Robert Grinsfelder at rmgrins@aol.com if you can help with any of these activities.
